SRINAGAR, July 24: The Apex Committee of Industries and Commerce Department has cleared the industrial investment proposal of Rs 5300 crore in the State besides 13000 Kanals of additional land has been designated for development of new industrial estates in the State. This was stated during a review meeting of Industries and Commerce Department (I&CD) chaired by Advisor to Governor B B Vyas. Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Shailendra Kumar gave a detailed presentation about the functioning of different directorates of the department. Speaking at the meeting, Vyas stressed on promoting balanced industrial growth leading to creation of employment opportunities for local skilled and educated youth. For the promotion and securing the local brand particularly in Art and Craft industry, Vyas called for Brand Promotion of Handicrafts, bringing in more crafts under GI, mandatory tagging of handmade crafts with GI certification, End-to-End development of Pashmina products, diagnostic survey of Artisans, besides formation of handloom/handicraft cluster at district level. Pitching for providing better marketing support to local artisans, Vyas directed for establishment of craft villages, organizing/participation of international exhibitions, e-commerce platform for J&K handloom/handcraft. |
