Hotel construction on Jhelum bank: Guv orders probe | | | Saahil Suhail

Anantnag, July 24: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday ordered an inquiry into the grant of permission for the construction of a hotel on Jhelum bank in Raj Bagh area of Srinagar. "Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a committee to conduct in-depth inquiry into the grant of permission of building permission for construction of commercial complex by Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad, son of Habibullah Sheikh," reads the government order, a copy of which lies with Early Times. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar will be the chairman of the committee, according to the government order No. 30-GAD (Vig) of 2018 dated 20-07-2018. Special Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Director Floriculture, Representative of I&FC department but not below the rank of Superintending Engineer and Representative of PW (R&B) but not below the rank of Superintending Engineer will be the members of the enquiry committee. The committee has been asked to establish the ownership of land, whether state land/Khacheri land which is not allowed to be sold as per the provisions of J&K Land Revenue Act. The committee has been directed to establish whether the land use of the present site falling in the Srinagar Muncipal Corporation was commercial and whether the construction at the site was as per the permission obtained earlier. The committee has also been directed to check deviation if any and has been asked to submit the report within four weeks. Srinagar based Environment Policy Group (EPG) has welcomed the decision. The group had earlier made a representation to the Governor NN Vohra over this issue. |
