Cong can bag 15 LA seats in Kashmir, Karra assures AICC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 24: In an attempt to project himself as Chief Ministerial candidate in the next Assembly elections, Tariq Hamid Karra is learnt to have assured victory of Congress on at least 15 seats in the Kashmir Valley. According to reliable sources in Congress circles, Tariq Hamid Karra has almost convinced the party high command, particularly AICC president Rahul Gandhi that the party can form Government in Jammu Kashmir only by managing maximum seats from the Valley. Giving a new strategy for the elections, sources said Karra has told the party high command that instead of focusing on Jammu, the Congress should concentrate on Kashmir Valley for coming to power in the State. Karra is of the view that in wake of prevailing strong resentment against PDP and disappointment with National Conference also, which has failed to regain confidence of the people, Congress has the most suitable opportunity to emerge as voice of Kashmir people. Confident of his theory, sources said that Mr Karra has assured the high command that he can manage victory on at least 15 seats in Kashmir Valley if the candidates of his choice are given. Confidence of Karra has made the Congress high command to review its strategy for J&K polls and shift the focal point from Jammu to Kashmir, sources said. This was the only reason that Mr Karra was given extra-ordinary importance and nominated to the Congress Working Committee as permanent invitee, sources added. However, on the other hand, sources said that the importance to Karra has raised many eyebrows in the Congress party and joining of hands by incumbent PCC chief G A Mir and Ghulam Nabi Azad is new development in this regard. |
