JAMMU, Nov 13: Keeping in mind the festival of lights and the resulting pollution, Shiksha Niketan School Jeevan Nagar organized a symposium competition of class 9th on the topic "Anti cracker awareness". The another aim of organizing symposium competition was to enhance the speaking skills of the students. In this context, two students from each house were selected. This competition was organized and conducted under the able guidance of experienced and skillful teachers which was reflected during the course of the competition. Students showed their great enthusiasm. The judging criteria were based on gestures, pronunciation and timing. The students presented their views. They spoke well. They showed a sense of duty towards their environment and society. The students spoke about the harmful effects of crackers to health and environment. Crackers often contain elements like copper, cadmium, sulphur, aluminum to produce the vibrant colours once ignited and many harmful gases produced from the bursting of crackers. Inhaling the fumes emitted by fire crackers increase the asthma attack among patients. 1st position was bagged by Rohit Sharma of Gurunanak house, 2nd position was bagged by Manpreet Kour of Amar house, and 3rd position was bagged by Samiksha of Gandhi house. At last, the main Incharge of the school, Nirmal Sharma conveyed her appreciation for the winners. The principal of the school, Rameshwar Mengi also facilitated the winners and congratulated them. |
