Leader of the Opposition AR Rather and Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Qarra on Friday exchanged hot words when Rather refused to initiate discussion on the budget citing lack of time as the main reason behind it.
It was around 1.05 p.m when Speaker of the house Tara Chand asked leader of the opposition to initiate budget discussion in the house. In response, Rather instead of initiating discussion reminded Speaker that the government had earlier agreed to call off the day’s business as legislators had to attend Friday prayers.

Amidst small objections from the opposition, the legislative assembly today gave nod for setting up of a shrine board for the management of Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi district.
The shrine will now be managed by the Divisional Commission Jammu –provided that the officer should be a Hindu. In the contrary circumstances the Deputy Commissioner of Reasi or the Assistant Commissioner shall be the chairman of the shrine board.

State Vigilance Organization today registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act to investigate the allegation of bribery leveled by Shoaib Nabi Lone MLA Sangrama.
In his written statement of January 14 to the Police, Lone has alleged that he had paid bribe to Altaf Noorani Driver, Board of School Education, who was attached to the then Minister for School Education, for clearance of a file pertaining to permission for starting ETT classes. This statement was received by State Vigilance Organization from the Police Headquarters J&K for action under law.
