Airports Authority of India has achieved one more milestone by getting ISO 9001-2000 certificate for its local civil airport at Jammu, the first airport to obtain this ISO certification.
A certificate award ceremony was held here today to commemorate this event. The ceremony was presided by the Dr. K. Ramalingam Chairman. Airport Authority of India. A. Murugeshan, Regional Executive Director, Norhern Region, AAI, Sudhanshu Pandey, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, B.R. Sharma, Chief Electoral Officer, S.P. Vaid, Inspector General of Police and Hridesh Kr. Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu were among others present at the function.
Dr. K. Ramalingam awarded the ISO 9001-2000 certificate to G. Chandramouli, Airport Director, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, K. Ramalingam, congratulated all officers and staff of civil Airport and expressed the hope that with the effective cooperation of state administration the Jammu airport would be further expanded and modernized once the land acquisition process is completed..

A European group monitoring Jammu and Kashmir has said militancy had turned into a lucrative business in the state with criminals taking advantage of the troubled situation were indulging in extortion and abduction in the name of the so-called movement.

Shouting “we want justice” a group of unemployed engineers, led by Rajiv Sharma and Avinash Gupta, today made an abortive bid to cross the border for, what they said, receiving arms training in camps in Pakistan.
