A chowki officer managed to get prize posting merely by presenting a costly mobile phone to an influential officer working in the district SSPs office.
According to the sources, the chowki officer who wanted posting of his choice reportedly contacted this influential officer and offered a mobile phone costing between Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 for getting him posted at his choice. The sources further said that the concerned officer recommend the transfer of the chowki officer and got him posted according to his choice recently.

Jammu and Kashmir police will quiz separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani following seizure of over Rs 46 lakh hawala money meant for the breakaway faction of Hurriyat Conference from his close aide as probe also indicated involvement of a prominent carpet dealer in it.
Authorities were gearing up to question Geelani following claims made by his aide GM Bhat that the money was meant for Geelani and his Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, an amalgam created as a parallel to Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq.

To cope with the scarcity of drinking water in Jammu city and its peripheral areas, the State government is contemplating to tap water from Chenab River at Reasi and supply it to the city through gravity.
The Chief Minister today called for a project report for the purpose which he said would be taken up with the Centre for funding. He expressed concern over the shortage of water in the winter capital and asked the concerned officers to prepare a futuristic project for augmentation of water supply.
