TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Wani sidelined, Jain clipped….think why?
3/9/2008 10:56:18 PM
Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 9 When the state cabinet had its last meeting here, among the spate of transfers and postings at the high echelons of administration and police, it carried out few interesting developments in the Education Department –both school education and higher education. Secretary to Government, School Education department, Khizar Mohammad Wani was removed from the post and kept waiting for few days to have the further posting. Wani’s removal from the post of administrative secretary in the School Education department underlined the urgency of taking him out of the Education department and not merely a routine change of guard at the top administrative level of the department. The fact that he was put to wait for the new orders of postings clearly reflects that he was not immediately required at any other department but the immediacy was to have him out of the Education department. And after waiting for a week, when a single order for the posting of Wani was issued, it further supported the doubts of sidelining an upright and honest officer. He was posted...

3/9/2008 10:55:49 PM
Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 9 The rebel has been finally shown the door. A mouth opened in public against the party chief was perhaps the last nail in the coffin of the beleaguered Peoples Democratic Party leader Ghulam Hassan Mir. Ever since being dropped from the Ministry, Mir has been at loggerheads with the party leadership. His love-hate relationship reached the climax when he questioned the father-daughter duo of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba for promoting dynastic rule within the party. His orders of expulsion from basis membership of the Peoples Democratic Party have formally been issued. Chairman of the PDP disciplinary committee Abdul Aziz Zargar on Sunday expe...

Pakistan and India elections in Jammu and Kashmir
3/9/2008 10:54:00 PM
Ashok Jaitly New Delhi | Mar 9 Even as the fascinating play of government formation unfolds in Pakistan after the historic elections last month, political analysts on this side of the border have begun to spin their theories on what the future holds for India-Pakistan relations. Will the new coalition government be strong enough to rein in the Taliban forces in the northwest? What will be the role of the army and its recalcitrant intelligence agencies, particularly the insidious ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence)? Will infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir be curbed? Most importantly, what will be the new regime's approach to the interrupted Kashmir dialogue? Vexatious questions all. Presi...
