| 26 POLICEMEN INJURED AS LOCALS DEFY CURFEW IN MENDHAR | | | | Jammu, March 24
At least 26 policemen were injured and few transport buses were damaged by members of the majority community in Mendhar tehsil after they came out on streets defying curfew to regain claim of the disputed piece of land set free by district administration from their custody on Friday evening.
The district administration had earlier clamped curfew since early morning to prevent situation going completely out of hands.
Columns of army jawans carried out a flag march in the area at the behest of the civil administration and also appealed to members of both the communities to maintain communal harmony and peace in the area.

Srinagar police today claimed to have arrested three drug paddlers from whome 190 Corex bottles were recovered.
Superintendent of Police City (North) Bashir Ahmed told News Agency of Kashmir that on specified inputs Khanyar police conducted raids at two different places and seized 190 Corex bottles.
The contrabands were allegedly being kept by the accused to be supplied among the youth especially school and college children.
Police said that it raided three persons during the raid who have been identified as Mushtaq Nabi Kaw of Khanyar, Aijaz Ahmed Wani of Nowgam and Muhammad Muzaffar Pir of Lal Naga.

Not withstanding the claims of authorities of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, mass copying has been a routine matter during the annual Secondary and Senior Secondary examinations in far off area of Gool in district Udhampur.
Informed sources told News Agency of Kashmir that students indulged in mass copying during the Matric exams in connivance with the staff on duty, adding that the same is being repeated now in the ongoing Higher Secondary Exams. Panic gripped Jammu Airport, this afternoon, when an Indian Airlines passenger on way to Leh was arrested with fifty live cartridges by the security personnel on guard duty.
Official sources informed that the security personnel deployed on the airport arrested a man who was to board Jammu-Leh flight.
Giving details, a senior police officer told NAK that one Sham Lal son of Ramolla resident of Udhampur was among the passengers who had to board Jammu-Leh flight when he was arrested.
When the luggage of Lal was examined in the X-Ray machine police noticed a box inside and asked him to open the bag. On opening the bag police noticed 50 live cartridges of .22 bore gun.
