| Development of Kashmir language imperative for the sustenance of Kashmiri culture: Dr. Farooq | | Mother tongue is the best medium for communication | | |
SRINAGAR: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah reiterated his pledge to contribute towards the development of Kashmiri language and urged intellectuals, writers and poets to contribute for the language to encourage the young generation to adopt the mother tongue for communication in the society. He said that the Kashmiri language has rich diversity which should be utilized by the students and scholars of Kashmiri language besides make use of the literature in developing the language.
The Union Minister was speaking during the inauguration of 3-day State Poetry Festival organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations at Radio Kashmir, Srinagar Auditorium here today.
A large number of intellectuals, writers, poets and renowned musicians participated in the inaugural function which was organized by the Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Mr. Aiyaz Rasook Nazki. The aim of this function is to make people aware about the measures to be taken for sustaining and flourishing of the language.

SRINAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today visited Tujgari Mohalla Nowhatta where some residential houses were gutted in a fire incident yesterday.
The Minister assured them that every possible help would be provided to the fire sufferers for their rehabilitation.
Mr. Sagar distributed relief of 50 Kgs rice, blankets and edible oil among each family provided by NGO Common Cause Trust.

JAMMU: Minister for R&B, Mr. Abdul Majeed Wani Informed the House that work on historical Mughal road was started in 2006 and is expected to be completed this year. He said a tunnel is proposed to be constructed on 84 km Bafliaz-Shopain road between Zaznar-Chattapani to keep the road open round the year, adding 7 km tunnel will reduce 10 kms distance while pre-feasibility survey of the tunnel is in progress.

BANDIPORA: Law Enforcement Officer for North Kashmir, Mr. A. Q. Shah along with his team made a surprise inspection of 16 fertilizer dealers in Sopore town during which 11 dealers were booked under the Provision of Fertilizer Control Act (FCA).
