Jammu, May 22
– Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad Tuesday announced that Financial Commission would shortly be made functional to ensure equitable development of all areas in the state.
Addressing block, tehsil and district level officers of Udhampur and Reasi districts at Udhampur, Chief Minister said that Central Government has provided huge funds to the state to accelerate the development process. “Only pro-active, transparent and prompt administrative machinery is required to deliver on ground”, he added.
“I have initiated a campaign to interact with officers of all levels to sensitize them in respect of their responsibilities”, Chief Minister said adding that to bring about a positive socio-economic change, functionaries have to gear up to deliver. “You have to girdle the loins to give your best”, he told officers.

Giving major relief and infusing fresh lease of security in the Under Graduate candidates, University of Jammu (JU) has decided to scrap the prevailing statue of examination which restricts a candidate to maximum of eight appearances in under graduate examination exceeding which he would be liable for debarment from appearing further. Effecting which, an under graduate could avail unlimited chances to cross Bachelor’s hurdle. Bhartiya Jana Party's grand old man, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, is, according to available indications, planning to take his party and others as well by surprise in the upcoming presidential poll. Special TADA Judge P D Kode held that V K Patil did not deserve any leniency as he had misused and abused his official position as a police officer posted at Wethe Srivardhan police station at Raigad.

In yet another air mishap, a MiG-21 fighter aircraft of IAF is feared to have crashed in the Basantgarh-Mahore mountains in Reasi district with a pilot on board also reported to be missing.
The aircraft lost contact with ground control minutes after taking off from the Udhampur air base at 10.40 am according to an IAF spokesman in New Delhi.
"The aircraft is missing and a land and air search has been launched to trace it", he said.
Low clouds over the area are hampering the rescue operations, IAF Officials said. Meanwhile, land search parties from Udhampur based Army Northern command are also scouring the thickly forested area.
