In stepped up incidents of insurgency, at least five militants were killed and two soldiers among six people were injured in different operation.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today had to cancel his visit to his constituency as militants struck at the areas close to the venue where he had to address a public meeting. A fierce encounter was followed in which two policemen were seriously injured.
Reports said that five militants -- two Pakistan-based Jaish-e -Mohammad (JeM) and three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) -- were killed by security forces in two fierce encounters in north Kashmir today.

Two Lashkar -e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed by a joint team of security forces near Chinote green colony in Bhaderwah in Doda district on Tuesday in a marathon gunfight which lasted over six hours.
A J&K police encounter specialist Sub inspector Shiv Krishan Sharma was also injured in the operation and was airlifted to Jammu medical college along with another injured police man Rajesh Kumar (PSO).

The Director General Police, Kuldeep Khuda, has recommended to the Government creation of one post of Inspector General Personnel in the police headquarters so that a very senior officer looked after establishment, including posting and transfers of police officials. While making this recommendation the DGP has not so far assigned personnel department to an officer of the rank of DIG. Hitherto, the department of personnel in the police headquarters was being manned by one DIG.

The Reserve Bank today said eight states, including Jammu-Kashmir, Gujarat and Punjab, would raise Rs 3,073.74 crore by auctioning 10-year government bonds.
Through the auction, to be undertaken by RBI on September 20, Punjab would raise Rs 1,000 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 500 crore, Gujarat Rs 475 crore, Kerala Rs 435.99 crore, Himachal Pradesh Rs 300 crore, Jammu and Kashmir Rs 134.51 crore, Assam Rs 116.13 crore and Sikkim Rs 112.10 crore, the regulator said in a statement.
"Tamil Nadu will have the option to retain additional subscription up to a maximum of Rs 125 crore over and above the notified amount," RBI said in a release.
