NIRBHAY JAMMUAL Jammu|Sep 6: The meeting of the controversial working group on Center-State relations which concluded recently in the union capital after enormous delays has exposed the bankruptcy of conscious prevailing among some political parties –more particularly the Bhartiya Janta Party. Out of the five working groups constituted by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the end of second Kashmir roundtable conference held in Srinagar in May last year, the fourth working group on the center-state relations has been the most controversial ones for the obvious reasons. This is the reason that four working groups formed their recommendations within the stipulated period while this group is still in the process of consultations. As already expected, the political parties which were invited in the meeting of this working group demonstrated their rigid stands on the center-state relations viz-z-viz the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sept 6: In first ever major action against the erring officers, the top authorities in the Indian Army have ordered attachment of a Major General with the Srinagar based Corps headquarters following allegations of sexual harassment by a woman officer. Maj Gen AK Lal, General Officer Commanding of the Leh Division was today attached with the Srinagar based 15 Corps pending inquiry into the allegations against him. Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep 6: The Chief Minister's Security Advisor Gopal Sharma has been appointed as new Director General of the paramilitary force Special Services Bureau. Sharma, who headed the Jammu and Kashmir police for over four years and led anti-militancy operations from the front, is a 1972 Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the state cadre. Sharma, who was the longest serving director general of police (DGP) in the state, was made security advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister in July this year.
