Death of Hemraj an old issue, says HM Shinde
Martyrdom of Hemraj
1/12/2014 10:27:05 PM
Rustam

JAMMU, Jan 12: It's a classable example of insensitivity when the country's Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde virtually said that it was not necessary to remember martyr Hemraj, as his death was an "old issue". He made this outrageous statement on Friday that must have outraged and demoralized the entire army which had been making supreme sacrifices to defend the borders and the Ceasefire Line, as also making the life of the people secure by keeping awake in the night. If India is intact, Jammu & Kashmir within India and hostile forces have failed to accomplish their evil designs, it is only because of the splendid role of our army. Sadly, Sushil Kumar Shinde not only undermined the institution of army and insulted martyrs Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh and thousands of other soldiers who laid down their lives happily for the cause of the country during all these 65 years of independence by making such an insensitive and irresponsible statement, but he also lambasted news channels which displayed the video on the martyred, mutilated and decapitated Hemraj - video that showed the Pakistani barbarians displaying the head of Hemraj and showing disrespect to the martyr. He said such videos should not be played, as there create serious problems. It bears recalling that the Pakistani butchers, including soldiers and Jaish and Lashkar operatives, had breached the Line of Control (read ceasefire line) on January 8, 2013 in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district and shot dead Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh and injured many others. After committing the barbarous act, they took away the head of Hemraj. The butchers were rewarded with Rs. five lakh for their barbarous act. It appears something is fundamentally wrong with the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre. How else should one describe what Shinde said and the utter failure of New Delhi to take action against Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the barbarous crime to justice? It's no wonder that the Congress is at the reciving end across the nation with political pundits asserting that the Congress is unlikely to win even 50 Lok Sabha seats.
