Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 12: Taking a cue from New Delhi to give lollypop to people as the state is heading towards elections; the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is trying to force the coalition government on announcement of formation of new administrative units in the state.
These new administrative units are sub-divisions, tehsils, niabats, CD blocks and patwar halqas, which is aimed at providing people governance at their doorstep. But the National Conference (NC) is trying to play on the issue and get the things done in a hurry which will only benefit a section of people where NC has some kind of a hold.
Actually these units were to be established in whole state where people have to travel a long distance to reach a tehsil or block office. This idea came from former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who created new eight districts in the state but couldn't find time to do it during his tenure.
Now, the NC wants to take the credit by forcing people to get unjust administrative units.
As per Bloeria and Mushtaq committee report, the Kashmir valley will get 27 new administrative units where Jammu will only get 17 units which is a clear indication that Jammu region is being discriminated. People in Jammu reside in far off areas from where they have to travel a long distance to see an officer and get their work done but in valley people easily reach to any office in few hours and even reach back to their homes in a single day.
The Jammu region need more new administrative units and Kashmir less but this NC government led by chief minister Omar Abdullah is trying to impose his own agenda and get the votes from valley.
"His (Omar's) motives will not meet the logical end as people are well aware of his propaganda politics. NC has done nothing during their five-year rule in the state and now just providing new administrative units and that too unjust will not be acceptable," said an opposition member of legislative Assembly.
Omar is simply trying to take the benefit ahead of the Assembly elections as he knew that NC will not be getting votes as their report card is zero.
