Anantnag,, Jan 12: Shockingly, Instead of taking stern action against the doctor running an unauthorized hospital in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, Director Indian System of Medicine (ISM) as well as district administration Under political, bureaucratic pressure is batting for the re-functioning of the unregistered hospital, that was sealed by Tehsildar Anantnag last year after he seized large quantity of expired medicines from the hospital drug store. Highly placed sources revealed that Additional district deputy commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Khan, who was probing the case, under political and bureaucratic pressure has left the investigation half way and is batting for the reopening of the unregistered hospital. While as the Director ISM has virtually failed to initiate action against the doctor running hospital illegally. Important to mention here that on 19 -12-2013, Tehsildar Anantnag after receiving telephonic message from one Sajad Ahmad Rather S/o Ab Majeed Rather resident of Bangidar Anantnag regarding selling of expiry medicine by Unani and Panchkaram Hospital Anantnag, raided the hospital and seized huge quantity of expired medicine including Septilin Batch No, H701003E that was prescribed to the complaint's child. Tehsildar Annatnag after seizing the expired medicine sealed the hospital owned by identified as DR. Naseer Ahmad Shah and on his directions police detained its doctors, who were later released on surety bond. Following the complaints of public that the hospital is running without registration, Hospital owner according to the letter addressed to ADMO, Anantnag failed to produce the registration before the tehsildar. Despite the fact that large quantity of expired medicine was seized from the hospital and it continued to function since last over 10 years, administration here in Anantnag is batting for its reopening. In a letter/enquiry report, dated 9/01/2014, addressed to deputy commissioner Anantnag, Additional deputy Commissioner while leaving the investigation halfway has advocated the reopening of the hospital. "I have examined the representation of Dr Naseer, complaint of Sajjad Ahmad and letter of tehsildar addressed to ADMO Anantnag and all the documents reveal the Tehsildar has seized some expired drugs in presence of Dr Majid and Pharmacist Zahoor Ahmad." Letter reads. However, ADC Annatnag takes a U turn in last two paragraphs of the letter reads, "I have examined the record as well as I heard tehsildar and proprietor of the hospital and came to conclusion that some expiry drugs were in store and weren't properly managed/ exhibited by keeping containers with slips which seems have not been done in this case, may be unintentionally. Many people / patients have personally or on phone contacted me regarding services being provided by this hospital and requested to reopen the same. So keeping in view this moment, it is recommended that hospital be ordered to reopen." Sources revealed that hospital owner is having strong political connections due which administration as well as ISM department is crumbling before the hospital owner and haven't initiated any action under drug act. Repeated attempts failed to contact Director ISM, as he didn't bother to attend repeated telephone calls. |
