Why Govt prefers PPP to particular corporate hospital? | | | early times report Jammu, Jan 12: Government's advocacy for encouraging Public Private Participation (PPP) mode at Super Specialty Hospital and GMC&H in respect of installing MRI and PET Scan favouring a particular corporate hospital for the job leaves a question mark on the intentions of the politicians in Omar led government. Highly placed sources said that instead of inviting tenders, government is opting for a particular hospital for the job because one of the politicians is close to that private corporate hospital. Social worker Dabgotra said that earlier on this issue of Public Private Partnership he wanted to give memorandum to union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad but was stopped and arrested by the Police. "Now the concerned minister wants to privatize hospitals in Jammu and also equipment in the hospital. Private players only want to earn money; they don't care for the sentiments of poor people. We will not let them do so. Three hundred rupees is the charge of these OPD'S which a common man can't pay. The people who came to Govt. Hospitals are poor and they can't pay such huge expenses. So this evening OPD is a failure", he said. Super Specialty Hospital was made from tax payer's money but is not working properly. State Government has received lots of funds from the Central Government but they are not utilizing the funds properly. Dabgotra added that if this step of Public Private Partnership is not taken back then there will be a Jan Aandolan and we will like to appeal all the social, political organizations of J&K to join this Jan Aandolan against PPP mode. "We were harassed by the administration and they tried to demoralize us but we will not stop our fight against corruption and will fight till the end", Dabgotra added.
