As cadre management goes awry in Wildlife Deptt, employees give 10 day ultimatum to Govt
After promotion Forest Deptt officials placed in Wildlife Deptt

SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Officials of Wildlife department have raised a revolt against the higher ups of the Department of Forests, Environment & Ecology for promoting Foresters of the Department of Forests and then placing them as in-charge Range Officers in the Wildlife department.
Taking strong exception to the recent orders according to which eight Foresters from the Department of Forests were promoted and posted as in-charge Range Officers in the Wildlife Department, the officials of Wildlife department have decided not to obey the orders of the newly promoted officials of the alien department.
A group of employees of Wildlife department told Early Times that the recent government order of placing the Foresters of Forest department in the Wildlife department is totally un-called for. The employees said that they would not work under the in-charge Range officers promoted recently.
"We have decided not to work under the newly inducted promotees of the Forest department and we have given an ultimatum of 10 days to the government to revoke the recent orders. If they revoke well and good and in case they fail then they should be ready for the consequences thereof. We would proceed on indefinite strike with the government being responsible for the fall-out," said the employees.
It would be in place to mention here that the Department of Forests, Environment & Ecology recently issued orders for the promotion of eight Foresters in the Forest department and then placed them as in-charge Range Officers in the Wildlife department. While posting of four such officials has already been done the posting of the rest has not been done so far.
The four in-charge Range Officers whose posting has been done so far are all located in the Kashmir division. The newly promoted in-charge Range Officers have been posted at Hokersar, Hygam, Baramulla and Lidder Valley (Pahalgam). Posting of three in-charge Range Officers of Jammu division and one officer of Kashmir division is yet to take place.

"There are officials among the Wildlife department who are working as in-charge Foresters over the past 15 years. These officials should have been promoted as Range Officers as they deserved. What was the reason of getting people from Forest department and then placing them in the Wildlife department? The recent order has subverted chances of promotion among the officials of Wildlife wing and we will not be mute spectators to this whole mess going on," said the employees.

The employees said that recent promotion of Foresters as in-charge Range Officers is illegal since they joined services many years later than those deserved the elevation. They demanded immediate rescinding of the order and said if that was not done then the functioning of Wildlife department would be severely paralyzed.

"Some of the officials joined as guards in the Wildlife department in 1980 and they would retire at this position as long as the orders like the recent one are issued. Such orders subvert the seniority list of the officials who have been working for decades in the Wildlife wing of the department. The officials of Forest wing who were promoted and placed as in-charge Range officers have joined the services in 1988 and are very junior," said the employees.

Employees of the Wildlife department have got the support from their colleagues in the Forest department who also hold the view that the recent placement of in-charge Range Officers from Forest department in Wildlife department is wrong and it goes against the cadre management of both the departments.
