| Darbar in Jammu , CM's heart beats for summer capital | | | early times report
Jammu, Dec 6: Neglect of Jammu region by the National Conference led coalition government and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself has become too obvious as eventhough Darbar moved to winter capital the last month, Chief Minister continues to operate from the summer capital. Omar spends most of his time in summer capital Srinagar and puts his major engagements in Srinagar like any other valley based leader and asks private partners from outside to invest in valley. When the Darbar was in Srinagar, Omar seldom visited Jammu and hardly spent a night in winter capital but when Darbar is in Jammu, Omar prefers to stay in Srinagar and New Delhi where he flies during the weekends. The secretariat in Jammu gave deserted look from last week of November to December 3 when voting for MLC elections were held. Not just Chief Minister but all valley based ministers remained out of the office and very little work was done during this period in the move offices. Another discriminative attitude of chief minister towards Jammu is reflected in the fact that Omar doesn't hold public darbar in Jammu, which is usual practice in Kashmir. When Darbar is in Srinagar, the chief minister meets people on every Wednesday but so far in Jammu this practice has not been started. Omar who has been reiterating equal treatment to all regions of the state needs to take synchronize what he says with what he does. |
