Tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar on 56th anniversary
"Local candidates should be given priority in selection of district level posts"

Jammu, Dec 6: Glowing tributes were paid to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 56th death anniversary at Town Hall Nowshera. In this regard a programme was organised by Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar Welfare Committee Rajouri in which people from Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and other weaker sections participated.MLC Nowshera Ravinder Sharma was the chief guest while S P Langeh presided over the function and Master Som Raj was special guest on the occasion.
While paying tributes to Ambedkar, a charter of demand in form of a memorandum was presented to Sharma in which the Committee spokesperson highlighted the problem faced by the educated youth of the SC community of Rajouri-Poonch due to inter-district recruitment in the State.
"Not only this remote and backward hilly districts of Jammu division such as Reasi, Doda, and Ramban unemployed youths have been badly affected as the posts of district cadre are being filled up by SC youths from Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts which mar the domiciles rights of local candidates," they said. The Committee member on behalf of the SC community of Rajouri-Poonch strongly demand that domicile/local candidates may be given priority in selection of district level posts, with amendment in SRO for inter district recruitment with clause for first preference to the domicile of districts as our districts are socially, educationally and economically backwards.
Besides, they demanded, political reservation for ST community in the J&K Legislative Assembly (Upper House and Lower House) and political reservation to SC/ST community sarp-anches, panchayat chairman, municipal president, chairman and mayor, block chairman.
The Committee members put a strong demand for reservation of atleast one Assembly segment from Rajouri and Poonch district for SC community.
They also demanded a hostel may be sanctioned and constructed in the district and sub-district headquarter on the pattern of Gujjar and Bakarwal for SC community.
