| Rs 2 crore scam : CBI arrests youth involved in swindling with SBI bank | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 6: CBI sleuths Jammu branch today arrested a youth allegedly involved in a scam amounting to Rs 2.00 crore with State bank of India (SBI) Kaluchak Branch Jammu and also have a bounty against him for evading his arrest since last two years.
According to CBI sources the youth involved in said scam was evading his arrest for the last two years and reward too had been declared by CBI recently in order to get a lead to trace him.
However following specific inputs from its reliable sources, a CBI team comprising Insp Bhagwan Dass Dandia, Constable BB Sharma, Constable Naresh Sharma and others under the supervision of Dr Armandeep Singh, SP CBI Jammu conducted a raid at Ramnagar and arrested the absconder Vijay Bhatti @ Gorkha who was one of the accused involved in SBI Bank fraud case involving Kaluchak Branch Jammu.
According to the case, Prop. M/s Mir Associates approached SBI Kaluchak Branch in January, 2007 for securing loan facilities of Rs 2 Crore under Traders Easy Scheme against the hypothecation of stocks for building materials and receivable as primary security for advancement of business activity of the firm and mortgaged the property in the shape of land and a double storey building etc.
"However, the documents of mortgaged land were found fake and forged which were prepared by accused Vijay Bhatti @ Gorkha who also motivated two persons to impersonate as owners of the mortgaged land. The loan facilities were used by the partners of M/s Mir Associates for their own ends and no repayment was made to the bank as a result of which the loan turned NPA, sources said.
Accordingly case under FIR number 5(A)/2010 under Sections 120-B r/w 420, 467, 468 was registered at CBI Jammu against Prop Mir Associates, Bank officials and other civil and Bank officials. During the investigation of case barring Vijay Bhatti @ Gorkha S/o Billo Ram R/o Mohada Morh Udhampur A/p W/No 1, Kott Ramnagar District Udhampur all were arrested and later have been bailed out.
The said absconder had adopted similar modus operandi in other cases as well. In fact, another person was found by CBI to be facing trial in his place before CJM Samba. A case of impersonation was registered in this instance against him. |
