| 61st All India Police Hockey Championship | | J&K, Punjab Police blank opponents in league ties | | early times report JAMMU, Dec 8: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir Police and last year's fourth position holder and one of the title contenders, Punjab Police defeated their respective opponents in one-sided contests to consolidate their position in league round of the ongoing 61st All India Police Games Hockey Championship at KK Hakhu Stadium, here today. Sailing on superb performance from star striker, Surinder Singh, who made hat trick, J&K Police trounced Odisha 5-0 in group-B match played in the morning session. Surinder scored four goals while fifth goal of the match came through Amrinder Singh. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, the star-studded side of Punjab Police registered 11-0 win against Jharkhand making it a one-sided contest. International player, Jugraj Singh scored five goals while former India captain, Rajpal Singh added two goals to the team's total. Satwinder Singh, Amandeep Singh, Amit Sandhu and Ajay Kumar were other scorers. Other three matches decided today also remained one-sided contests with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Karnataka Police and Uttar Pradesh Police emerging the winners. Last year's bronze medalist, CISF defeated Railway Protection Force (RPF) 15-03. Mangra Munda and Compal Lakra were the main scorers with three and four goals respectively. Cyril Ekka added two goals, followed by Major Singh, Simon Toppo and PJ Toppo with one goal each. From RPF, Gobin Singh and Leo Lawarance reduced the margin netting two and one goal respectively. In another league match of the day, Karnataka Police beat Chandigarh Police by eight goals to one. Skipper, NV Gurdeep was top scorer with three goals while S Mohan Kumar, Umesh R Muttegar, V Magesh, B Kashibiswandhan and N Shiva Kumar added one goal each. Sudhuman Yadav netted the only goal scored by Chandigarh. The Uttar Pradesh Police inflicted a humiliating defeat on Puducherry beatting latter 17-01. Rakesh Kanoji, Hartik and Sunil Kumar made four goals each, followed by Shajid Khan and Manish Gupta, who contributed three and two goals respectively to the team's tally. From Punducherry, A Nagaranjan scored the only goal.
