EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 8: Jammuites Beware! If you are going to attend cremation ceremony in old city area or any other location avoid parking your vehicles near the main entrance or easily accessible locations. In a bid to kill two birds with one stone, the traffic police may tow away your vehicles to earn more revenue and to create parking lot for VVIP's, reaching to the cremation ground to attend the last rites.
The miseries of hapless motorists, left stranded on the road side, get compounded on reaching the Gulshan Ground area where they had to struggle harder to reach dumping area. And even after reaching close to the yard it becomes difficult to trace the person handling the job of releasing the cars after paying penalty amount. And if someone questions the logic behind lifting the vehicle without being wrongly parked he/she is bound to invite more trouble.
Large number of people who had parked their vehicles near Jogi Gate cremation ground on Saturday to attend the cremation of father of a BJP leader Ashok Khajuria faced similar situation as when they came out of the cremation ground to their surprise they found their vehicles being towed away by the traffic police. Some people who regularly park their vehicles in the same area also faced hardships as traffic police had towed away their vehicles to make space for the parking of VIP vehicles.
Apart from this many shopping enthusiasts today faced piquant situation as they could not find enough space for parking on busy Residency road as the entire stretch leading towards Eidgah was occupied by the pilot vehicles of the VVIPs as the National Conference Working Committee. meet was scheduled at paryy head office. Even traders having their business outlets on the road were not allowed to park or cross the area A local family in the area which had organised a religious function faced difficulties as their guests had to cover the distance passing through the thick blanket of security. The LPG dealer who distribute cylinders was busy tackling special request for home delivery of cylinders as the 'security bandobast' disallowed local residents to ferry LPG cylinders in their private vehicles.
Traders weres also asked to kep shutters down by security till NC Working Committee Meet concluded.
