| Manjit demands special recruitment drive for Ramgarh youths | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Ramgarh, Dec 15: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Manjit Singh today demanded revocation of VAT on the Army canteen items in Jammu and Kashmir unlike rest of the country. Singh was addressing locals at village along the International Border (IB) Bomboo Chak in Ramgarh at a function organized in memory of a martyr Caption Bahadur Singh, a Vir Chakra awardee, who laid his life during 1965 war with Pakistan. Addressing villagers, Singh said, the army men sacrifice their lives for the cause of the country for which the government should give them special care to them and their families. Referring to the imposition of VAT on the canteen items of Army, he said, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has imposed VAT on the canteen items while in rest of the country the same is not imposed in any of the State. He demanded that the VAT on canteen items should be removed for the facilities. Former Minister demanded that the farmers should be given crop compensation for the land ahead of ditch or fence. He also demanded construction of road which is in shabby condition at Ramgarh's village Bomboo Chak. Meanwhile, he also demanded that the government should launch a special recruitment drive in the border area of Ramgarh for the recruitment of the youths facing unemployment. He, however, hailed the Member Parliament (MP) Madan Lal Sharma for highlighting the issues of refugees with the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh. He also appreciated the efforts of the Member Parliament (MP) Choudhary Lal Singh for the same purpose in which he too highlighted the sufferings and demands of the West Pakistan refugees. |
