Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Dec 15 : After spending nearly 48 days in custody, session court Kishtwar today granted bail to all the three Face book blasphemy accused hailing from remote Passarkot area of the district.
After hearing the defense council Rajesh Sharma as well as public prosecutor Ravinder Kumar Goswani, Principal District and Session Judge Kishtwar Pawan Dev Kotwal granted bail in favour of three accused Kishore Sharma, Kirti Sharma and Bansi Lal who were later released from District Jail Kishtwar after furnishing surety bond of Rs. 50000/ each.
The defense council while arguing before the court strongly demanded the release of all the three accused on bail and termed the prolonged detention of his clients as against law on the grounds that bar of 15 days time limit required in the case for submitting the challan has already exceeded since all the three accused persons are behind the bars from last 48 days.
Public prosecutor Ravinder Kumar Goswani pledged that the release of the accused can create law and order problem in the area which was strongly argued by the defense council who pleaded to look into the case through the prism of the law and not through the prism of law and order situation.
The argument was upheld by the judge. Earlier Session judge on Thursday deferred his decision to give police extra time to come up with strong material evidence against the accused. Police informed the court that final report pertaining to the uploading of blasphemous picture on social networking site face book is still awaited from US office of the website. Police also informed the court that the matter taken up with the face book authorities in US is in advanced stage and police is hopeful to receive the report shortly and the same was rejected by the judge who found that the accused had right to get bail and accordingly granted bail to them. It is pertinent to mention that Kishtwar District and its adjoining areas witnessed strong protests after the matter of uploading of blasphemous pictures on social networking site came to fore.
Soon after the release of the accused, senior police officers held a meeting and discussed the steps to be taken to prevent any kind of law and order situation. Majlis-e-Shora, an amalgam of Muslim community has already threatened agitation in case the accused were released from the jail without completion of an inquiry.
