| Discredited officers lobbying for top posts in Jammu, Srinagar | | Anticipated reshuffle in top Police administration | | Abodh Sharma JAMMU, Dec 15: Intensive lobbying has started within top Police administration for top posts in Jammu and Srinagar ahead of Cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday. Shuffling over these top posts became imminent following meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) which recommended elevations of eligible officers in the ranks of IGPs, DIGs and SSPs recently. According to reports, the DPC has recommended elevation of IGPs of Jammu and Srinagar, Dilbagh Singh and SM Sahai as ADGs, paving way for the new incumbents for the top jobs in both provinces/ Zones. Sources in the Police administration divulge that certain officers who have held vital positions in Police administration in Jammu are seen marking their attendances at the residences of their political masters in anticipation of their benevolence to grab top posts. Interestingly, these officers are seeking favours from their political bosses even though a few of them gained infamy after they were recorded abusing the politicians during custodial interrogation of Nagar Singh alias Nago in infamous Amandeep murder case. These officers further suffered loss of credibility when the prosecution witnesses in Chopra murder case did not only turn hostile but also leveled serious allegations against them for forcibly getting their statements recorded. Sunny Baba, the star prosecution witness in the infamous Chopra murder case had deposed for the Court raising serious allegations against the then police bosses of Jammu. Besides suffering loss of credibility in public eye, these officers are also facing litigations in the court of law and at a time when CAG has already cast serious aspersions on the ability and capability of Jammu Police, posting such officers at the helm of zonal police administration is bound to prove detrimental. |
