early times report Jammu, Dec 15: The team from the from the Govt. Women College, Parade, Jammu, lifted the glittering Veeranna Aivalli Memorial Running Trophy in the 11th Veeranna Aivalli Memorial Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Debating Competition organized by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. Shriya Raina and Bharti Manhas both from the Govt. Women College, Parade, Jammu, bagged the First and Third prize, respectively whereas Vinee Mahajan from Govt. Women College, Gandhinagar, Jammu, was adjudged as Second. The winners were presented cash prizes amounting to Rs. 2,500/-, Rs. 2,000/- and RS. 1,500/-, respectively. The Consolation prizes amounting to Rupees One Thousand each were awarded to Tamana Slathia from MBS College of Engineering and Technology and Ishtiaq Ahmed from Govt. MAM College, Jammu. The topic of the debate was In the Opinion of the House, "Can the Youth Bulge be Exploited for the benefit of the Country". Eighteen Teams from the various affiliated Colleges with University were participated in the said Debating Competition. While speaking on the occasion,Prof. Mohan . Paul. Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, who was the Chief Guest said that youth has a larger role to play in Nation building only thing required is to give right strokes at the right time. whereas Sh. Ashok Prasad, IPS, Director General of Police, J&K, presided over the Prize Distribution Function. Swarna Aivalli as well as Girish Aivalli and Nitish Aivalli, both sons of Late Aivalli were also present on this occasion. Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, presnted the Vote of Thanks. Prof. Satnam Kour, Dr. C.M. Seth and Jagdish Chander, were the Adjudicators while Anju Thapa and Goldy Mahajan acted as Rapporteurs. The proceedings of the Award Ceremony were conducted by J.B. S. Johar, Hony. Secretary, IIPA, J&K Regional Branch while debate was anchored by Huma Khan.
