JAMMU, Dec 16 : Jammu Police today arrested four gamblers from Roopnagar area on city outskirts of this winter capital.
"Based on tip off, this evening a raid was conducted in Lower Roopnagar area and four gamblers were arrested red handed," Satinder Singh-Station House Officer, Police Station, Janipura here said.
Singh said that the gamblers on seeing the police party tried to escape from the spot but chased and arrested.
The arrested persons were identified as Rameshwar Singh, resident of Roop Nagar, Mahesh Kumar, resident of Sector 4, Trikuta Nagar, Sanjeev Kumar, resident of Janipur and Rajinder Singh, resident of Sec 7, Nanak Nagar.
"An amount of Rs 7475 was recovered from the possession of the gamblers while a case under 13 Gambling Act has been registered and investigations are in progress," the SHO said. |
