Jammu, Dec 16: The Principal Government Medical College and Hospital has been put on notice for allegedly running an operation theater in the premises and continuing private practice. He has been asked to explain his position and refrain from private practice vide order No PS/CS/H&ME/ 62/2012.
The order read that through various means, it has been informed that despite holding the charge of Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, he (Dr Choudhary) was continuing with his private practice.
''Acting on various complaints, a five member team headed by the Deputy Director, Depart-ment of Health and Medical Education this afternoon raided the private clinic of Dr Aniece Choudhary, Principal GMC at Wazarat Road,'' official sources here said.
They said that there were complaints that the Principal was illegally running an operation theater in his clinic.
''Though an operation theater was not found in the clinic but some old surgical items and devices used in an operation, were found from the site,'' they said.
There were also allegations against the Principal, who is also head of ENT Department that due to his negligence, a child also died at SMGS Hospital few days back as he could not get the required treatment.
This is very unfortunate and violation of standing Government orders and, therefore, he was directed to immediately stop private practice of any kind and also explain his position into the matter, the order said.
