| Cong punctures Omar's morality balloon | | Eradication of corruption | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: The assertion by the Cong leader Abdul Gani Vakil that while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had said that rooting out corruption in coalition is very difficult then why he (Omar) is batting for alliance with Congress, aptly reflects the double speak and hallow political morality of the Chief Minister. "Chief Minister has himself said that eradication of corruption in coalition regime becomes impossible so why he is batting for alliance with Congress," said Vakil. Omar had publicly stated that rooting out corruption is not possible in coalition government at Delhi. He also made the similar statement at an event organised by the national daily, where he said he can't divulge the difficulties in containing corruption in coalition but they pose a serious challenge. Omar had in fact also said that rise of regional parties is not in the interest of the country. However, he himself has been pitching for an alliance with the Congress before the next assembly elections. He had been repeatedly saying that alliance is possible and is pitching on natural 'ties' between Abdullah and Gandhi families. Omar, had deliberately tried to keep off from the hostile relations the two families had in the past. His grand father Sheikh Abdullah was send twice to the jail. First by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and then by Indira Gandhi. Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil said that Congress will work hard and will make every effort to form next government on its own as the people are interested in one party rule. "If Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah feels corruption cannot be eradicated in a coalition government, why is he batting for an alliance with Congress", he questioned. He said Chief Minister should have advocated one party rule in the State so that menace of corruption is uprooted but instead he is batting for an alliance. The former Minister stressed upon the workers to work hard and ensure that the Congress party formed the next government on its own so that menace of corruption is uprooted and the system could be set right. Vakil said so far as contesting the next assembly election jointly with NC is concerned, government should first fulfill the promises they had made with the people during 2008 elections and implement the policies and programmes envisaged in manifesto because of which they are in power and then think of the elections in 2014. "Chief Minister should have advocated one party rule in the State so that menace of corruption is uprooted but instead of that Omar is batting for alliance," said Vakil. Vakil has exposed the political opportunism of the Chief Minister, who is presenting bricks and bouquets to the Congress. He is deliberately raking up the issue of corruption, as most of the scandal in the state government had come against the Cong Minister, though some appear to be flimsy and had also dethroned the Cong Minister. He is doing it to expose Cong stand on corruption. But at the same time praising the ties between two parties and families, to keep the Cong in a good humor. "Cong is too matured a party to understand the political tricks and gimmicks of Omar Abdullah. We will not fall into his trap but if he thinks so, he is then living in delusion," said a Cong Minister, wishing to be named.
