Modi tore into Cong for allowing Malik to interfere in India's internal affairs

JAMMU, Dec 16: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Bhai Modi yesterday lambasted the Congress and the Congress-controlled and manipulated UPA Government for allowing the visiting Pakistani Interior Minister (Home Minister) provocative and uncouth Rehman Malik to interfere in the country's internal affairs. Highly unsophisticated and arrogant as he is, Malik on day one of his New Delhi visit in the presence of his Indian counterpart Sushil Kumar Shinde told media persons that he didn't want the repeat of incidents like 26/11, 9/11, Samjhauta Express and Babri Masjid. In effect, he compared the Mumbai and US terrorist attacks, which had left thousands of innocent persons dead and thousands of others seriously wounded, with what the Ram Sevaks did to facilitate construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, birth place of Lord Rama. The incident is described by "secularists" as "Babari Masjid demolition by Hindu fanatics". It was expected that Shinde would take on Malik and show him his rightful place by telling him on his face that he committed a diplomatic sin by interfering in the internal affairs of India. In fact, New Delhi should have thrown Malik out of India immediately for the crime he committed against India while in India, but it was not to be. The Congress behaved meekly and it was expected of it.
As expected, the BJP leadership, as said, raised the issue and attacked both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shinde. Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley criticized the Union Government and said that though "his party doesn't say anything against any visiting foreign leader, yet he had to raise the issue as his party believed that while Malik committed a diplomatic blunder, the Government of India did not respond appropriately". He asked the powers-that-be as to why they failed to take on Malik. As for Modi, he not only made the interference of Malik in the internal affairs of the country an election plank and mock the Congress, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, but also went to the extent of asking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to clear his stand on what the highly unsophisticated and arrogant Malik said in the country's capital, New Delhi. He also said that Malik caused an affront to the self respect of the Indians by comparing terror attacks on India with what the devotees of Lord Rama did.
Believe it or not, but it is a fact that Malik, instead of tendering an unconditional apology for the crime he committed on the Indian soil, yesterday retaliated and attacked Modi saying he must refrain from making statements which adversely affect India-Pakistan relations. In effect, he dared to ask Modi not to raise a hue and cry over the statement that he made a day before in the presence of his Indian counterpart in order to woo the Gujarati electorate. He made these outrageous comments during an interview with the correspondent of IBN7. It was perhaps for the first time that a visiting Pakistani leader misused the Indian soil for airing highly outrageous views. Credit goes to the BJP leadership which rose to the occasion and condemned Malik using very strong words. India needs the parties like the BJP which take no time to denounce those who dare to interfere in the internal affairs of India.
The moral of the story is that while the Congress failed to discharge its obligations towards the Indian nation, the BJP leadership did rise to the occasion and show Malik him rightful place. Another moral of the story is that the Malik's Delhi visit has further embittered the already rather bitter relations between the two countries, leave aside the uninspiring role that was played by the Congress and the UPA Government.
