Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: The militancy in Jammu region is confined to hinter land where militants are only hiding to save themselves from security forces as they are getting no support from other side of line of control (LoC). On the other hand the Indian army and other security forces including police are maintaining pressure on them due to which militants are finding difficult to even show their existence. "We have been able to eliminate the leadership of militant groups and militants here in Jammu region are finding difficult to show their presence. At present militants are only present in Kishtwar, Gool and depth areas of Rajouri district but they are not able to target security forces or anybody else," said Lt. Gen. DS Hooda, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, which is also known as 16 corps, on the sidelines of a function at corps headquarters Nagrota. The GOC said that due to elimination of militant leadership and pressure from security forces on them, the infiltration attempts from other side of LoC have increased this year as compared to last year. "But not a single infiltration has become successful. As per reports of agencies working here, it has been recorded that not a single militant has been able to infiltrate in our side," Hooda added. In 2012, militants from other side of LoC have been trying hard to enter into Indian side but Army has maintained strict vigil on LoC which has not given any chance to militants to sneak into this side. Not only this Pakistani army has continuously violated the ceasefire agreement on the LoC but still they have not been able to push militants into this side. Mostly the ceasefire violation has been recorded in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district of Jammu region which is traditionally a tough terrain and is heavily covered with forest. This has remained a hub of infiltration in 1990s and first decade of 21st century but now, Indian Army has been able to put brake on the infiltration. "Due to the heavy snowfall on LoC, as all passes of Valley have got closed and militants are trying hard to infiltrate through Krishna Ghati sector, which has led to increase in infiltration as well," the Lt Gen said, adding, "Ceasefire violation could also be a ploy from militants to try to sneak in from some other area but we have maintained vigil and are alert to deal any kind of situation." When asked about revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the GOC 16 corps maintained silence and said that it is a political matter and he has nothing to comment on that.
