EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 16 : Poorav Sainik Sewa Parishad, a premier organization of Ex-servicemen organizes Vijay Diwas to commemorate magnificent Indian Armed forces victory over Pakistan in December 1971 War resulting in birth of Bangladesh and world record surrender of 93000 Pakistan soldiers with their weapons. Earlier record was held by Germans during 2nd World War, where they forced surrender of 90,000 Russian troops. This day is celeberated in a unique manner, to honour martyrs of the State who had laid down their lives during the current Year in the cause of nation, fighting anywhere. This year 10 martyrs belonging to State are being honoured by presentation of cash award of Rs 5000 and a Shawl. Out of these 10 martyrs, one belong to Army, 4 to CRPF and 4 to J&K Police. These martyrs belong to different districts of J&K State. The financial support for function is being provided by Jai Kargil Jai Bharat Kosh, a trust flouted for such noble purposes. The function is being held under overall supervision of Brig. S.S. Saini, President J&K State PSSP and conducted by Lt. Col. N.S. Sambyal its Gen. Secy. Chief Guest of the function was one of the most honoured son of soil Major Gen.(Retd).Shamsher Singh. Similarly another illustrious soldier Brig. Suchet Singh was chairman of the function. Ex-Servicemen from all over State have come in large number to attend the function. |
