| Natrang stages 'Frozen Dreams' in Sunday Theatre series | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 16 : Three shows of the play 'Frozen Dreams' conceptualized, designed and directed by Asheish Nijhawan- a graduate of National School of Drama were presented here today at Natrang Studio Theatre under its regular Sunday Theatre series. MLC Vijay Bakya was the Chief Guest in the concluding show of the day who appreciated Natrang's endeavours in promoting new experimentations in theatre with the motive to explore fresh possibilities of this most wonderful art form called 'Theatre'. Presented by Natrang and RangRoots, the production of the play was supported by Ministry of Culture, Government of India and National School of Drama, New Delhi and was evolved and produced in a month long intensive theatre workshop. This unique theatre experiment which Asheish Nijhawan terms as a work in evolving process kept the audience spellbound through its effective visual language. A perfect blend of innovative design, creative lighting and powerful acting was witnessed in this presentation which was aimed at creating an alternative theatre performance language which could not be kept confined to the boundaries of languages. The plot of the play emerges from the mass migration of Hindus which happened in early nineties. It's the journey of a young boy who migrated from the valley at the age of six. His early childhood impressions, those images of turmoil, brutalities and cries still haunt him. Despite making all-out efforts to run away from that space, those frightening images of horror still horrify him every moment and time. The sufferings of the displaced and people in exile have been beautifully portrayed using the languages of images and sounds. Such sufferings could easily be related to any place or region. Be it the case of Tibetans, or Palestinians the pain of wounds is the same. |
