| Block Congress Committee organises felicitation rally | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Nagrota, Dec 17 : A felicitation rally was organised by Block Congress Committee Dansal here today under the leadership of former MLA Thakur Shiv Dev in which large number of party workers participated.
Vice Chairman OBC Advisory Board Kuldip Raj Verma was the chief guest on the occasion while newly elected member Legislative Council Sham Lal Bhagat was guest of honour.
According to a party statement the rally was meant to celebrate the success of alliance candidates in recently held elections to the Legislative Council from Halqa Panchayats.
The speakers congratulated Bhagat on his success and also highlighted the various problems being faced by the people of Nagrota constituency. Singh in his welcome address thanked the party men for ensuring the success of all the alliance candidates and said that the services of Bhagat would always be available to them as he himself being a sarpanch would be in a better position to raise their problem in the appropriate forums.
He appreciated the efforts of PCC President Prof Saifuddin Soz and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking up the issue of adequate honorarium to the sarpanchs and panchs with the Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats.
Singh also demanded that Panchayat Raj System in the State should be further strengthened by incorporating the useful provisions of 73rd Amendment by amending the State Panchayat Raj Act. |
