Jammu, Dec 17 : Kashmiri Pandit "relief holders" today held a rally in protest against the "silence" of the Centre on a proposal for the enhancement of the cash assistance for them. The rally started from the Relief Commissioner's office.
Demanding immediate action on the enhancement of the relief, they hit out at the government for being silent on the issue.
Addressing the rally, leaders said it was an irony that despite a rise in the prices of essential commodities, the issue of cash enhancement had not been taken seriously by them.
Even two months after the recommendations regarding the revision of the Prime Minister's package of relief and rehabilitation and enhancement in the cash relief for Kashmiri Pandits were sent to the Home Ministry, the revision was yet to see the light of day, they alleged.
The leaders appealed the Government to respond to their problems.
