early times report Srinagar, Dec 17: While on the one hand girls topped over boys in the annual Matriculation exa-mination of session 2012, Kashmir division and secured first 9 positions out of top ten, on the other hand students of Govern-ment schools not only failed to secured leading positions, but at some places result of Govern-ment schools in this examination was again disappointing. In a tough competition in which first position is shared by two girls, Iqra Bashir Makhdoomi daughter of Bashir Ahmad Makhdoomi of Model Public School, Model Town Sopore and Samma Malik daughter of Ishtiyak Ahmad Malik of Mallinson girls higher secondary school with 99.60% marks. Only one student Bushra Manzoor daughter of Dr Manzoor Ahmad Zargar of Mallinson girls higher secondary school got second position with 493 marks. While as the third position was secured by three girls, Fiza Farooq daughter of Farooq Ahmad Rather of Prime Public school, Baghat-e-Barzulla , Faiqa Khan daughter of Shah Sikander and Khushnuma Mushtaq daughter of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, of Mallinson school, who have got 492 marks each. The 4th position that is the only in first 10 is secured by Shahzaib Rehman son of Abdul Rehman of JK Public Sch-ool, Humhama who has secured 491 mark. According to the reports, the performance of Gover-nment schools again remai-ned dismal. Students of Government schools not failed to secured leading positions but at some places the overall pass percentage of Government schools is 0%. Although in this examination boys secured 78.21% in comparison of girls with 68.21 but most of the leading positions were secured by girls and the overall pass percentage remained 68.21%. According to the data received from the Board of school education Srinagar total number of 49027 candidates appeared in this exam out of which 29587 students could qualify while as 629 students failed to qualify in this exam. 1378 students are in Grade A1, 3727 in Grade A2, 4834 in Grade B1, 6099 in Grade B2, 7199 in C1, 5754 in Grade C2 and only 629 in Grade D ,who couldn't qualify.
