NAVAPACHI, Dec 21: Slain Hizb commander Shakir Hussain Sheikh alias Chota Hafiz wanted by National Investigating Agency (NIA) in connection with last year September 7 blast outside Delhi High Court killing 16 persons used human shield of three persons during an ambush laid down by troops of 11 RR on Qadrina Bridge last night.
Army today handed over the dead body of the slain militant to Marwah police who after completion of all legal formalities handed it to the legal heirs for burial.
While talking to the "Early Times" the group of 12 Army personnels who successfully eliminated the most wanted militant said that the difficult part of the brief operation was to isolate the slain militant from the civilian whom he (Chota Hafiz) used as shield while crossing Qadrina Bridge and said that they successfully managed to do the same.
Meanwhile, Commandant 9 Sector RR Kishtwar Brigadier Hatish Kohli in an exclusive interview with Early Times said that people of Marwah and its adjoining areas have taken a sigh of relief after the killing of Chota Hafiz who had spread a reign of terror in the area since last over one decade. Elaborating on successful operation carried out by the tropes of 11 RR, Kohli said that Army was tracking him from quite some time and finally on Thursday evening they get confirmed input about the movement of this wanted militant about his plan to cross Qadrina bridge.
He said that after getting an input, the troops lay down the ambush and after brief encounter the troops achieved success by eliminating him. He said that slain militant fired 17 rounds before he got killed. He said that one AK 47, 4 AK Magazine, one Chinese grenade, 107 AK round, one Radio set, eatables, one apple, dry fruits, diary, toffees, medicines and daily use items. Beside weapons, a rubber stamp of HM Area Commander and Key ring of Jamat-e-Islami. In view of mounting pressure from the Army, Chota Hafiz plans to shift his hideout to Renie forest before he was intercepted by the Army.
Meanwhile, the sources claims that Army's single handed operation comes in wake of groupism within the Kishtwar police that plays an important role in sabotaging the key operations for own credit. Earlier Doda police on the same pretext violated Kishtwar police jurisdiction and carried out its planned operation against Amir Ali Kamal and his associate Mohammad Shafi Hajam.
