| CM's grievance cell sets JDA into motion | | Contractors to display rate of parking | | Sumit Sharma
JAMMU, Dec 21: In a much sought for decision, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today directed the contractors to display the rate of the parking approved by JDA in parking areas. The JDA's direction came soon after the CM's grievance redressal cell took cognizance of the matter.
The contractors have also been directed to remove the disclaimer, "we provide only space and are not responsible to the theft of vehicles" from the slips issued to owners of the vehicles.
It is further alleged that parking places belonging to JDA including Bahu Plaza Complex at Rail Head Complex Jammu, Parking place to Purani Mandi Jammu, Parking Place at Kachhi Chawni Jammu, Parking Lot at Jewel Chowk, Parking Place at Shalamar Road and Parking Place at Super Bazar do not display the rate of parking and even refuse to take responsibility of the vehicles parked in their parking lot, though they charged hefty amounts from vehicle owners.
Reacting over the complaint No. 34844, the CM grievance cell referred the complaint to the JDA and sought an explanation. Responding to the complaint, the office of the Vice Chairperson, Jammu Development Authority, issued directions to contractors and submitted a report to CM's Grievance Cell.
The JDA response reads: "As per the report of Executive Engineer JDA Division no 1st Vide this no: JDA1233738 dt: 16102012 and Executive Engineer JDA Division 2nd Vide this no: JDAII193536 dt: 29092012 that the contractors of various parking areas have been directed to display the rates of parking approved by JDA in their respective parking areas". |
