| NC backed leader all set to become state BJP chief | | 'Coterie managed to manipulate his nomination ' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 21: The NC backed man is all set to take reigns of state BJP tomorrow. According to sources the BJP which is going to elect its state party chief tomorrow morning has cleared the name of a state leader who is having proximity with NC leadership and the top brass of the party has entered into an understanding with him to extend full cooperation to him as state party chief. Sources said some senior BJP leaders who too are having close links with NC senior leader and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah have also organized number of meetings with the new incumbent for the post of president with top brass of NC leaders to broker an agreement and understanding with them and seek their good wishes in heading the party in the state. Sources said that the coterie manipulated the nomination of the NC man to such an extent that during the Party meeting here they gave an impression to party observers from New Delhi that he was the only capable leader to deliver the goods in the state and can keep the house in tact. The four Party observers including BJP spokesman Rajiv Partap Rudy, Party incharge for the state, Jagdish Mukhi, and co-incharge Dr Anil Jain and R P Singh were asked by the coterie not to entertain any other leader for the top slot except their nominee as he has the guts to keep the flock togethter. Sources however said that there is lot of resentment in the party for sidelining the senior leaders who too were in the race and had rendered a lot of service to the party from their student days and even jailed during the emergency period. Sources said that Party activists have made it clear to the visiting observers that by installing the NC approved leader as state party chief will be inimical to party interests in the state and it will make BJP as B team of NC the dubious distinction which the Party has already earned. Sources said many members in electoral college had supported re nomination of outgoing president Shamsher Singh Manhas by granting him another term while others opposed him by holding him responsible for his failure to keep the flock together and splitting the Party. They supported former Mayor Kavinder Gupta's candidature while others were in favour of senior vice president of the Party CP Ganga and sitting MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma. However the chances of NC backed leader brightened in the late night meeting held by Party prabharis and some senior leaders of the party. |
