| Easy wins for SCC Ludhiana, Shining Star | | 3rd Police Martyrs' NZ Twenty20 Cricket | | early times report KATHUA, Dec 28: Sandhu Cricket Club (SCC) Ludhiana and Shining Star Kathua won their respective matches, rather easily, to make it to the quarterfinals of the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs' North Zone Twenty20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, here today. Shining Star defeated Poonch XI by eight wickets. Earlier, batting first, Poonch XI bowled out for 88 runs in 17.4 overs. Parvez remained top scorer with 36 runs. From Shining Star, Chanderpal emerged as most successful bowler with three for 11 while Arun, Divesh, Udit and Parshant shared apiece each. In reply, Shining Star overhauled the required total making 88 runs in just 11 overs losing only two wickets. Ajmer and Parmod were top scorers with 38 and 19 runs respectively. Rockey and Rupinder took one wicket each from Poonch XI. For his superb bowling spell, Chanderpal was declared man of the match. Earlier, in the first match of the day, SCC Ludhiana registered an impressive nine-wicket win over Stadium Senior XI Kathua. Batting first, Stadium XI set a target of 107 runs for six, which, in reply, SCC chased in 15 overs losing one wicket. Sandeep and Atul were main scorers with 26 and 20 runs respectively. From SCC, Ravi took three wickets, followed by Gourav, who bagged one. Later, SCC Ludhiana chased the target making 111 runs with nine wickets in hand, that too sparing five overs of their innings. Prince made 49-ball 64 runs including five sixes and three boundaries while Vikas Bhalla added 37-ball 40 runs with the help of one six and four boundaries. Srinath took the only wicket lost by SCC. For his match winning innings of 64 runs, Prince was declared man of the match. |
