| Political pressure or police's failure? Tramboo flees to US, shoot out still a mystery | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 28: A month after the Channi Himmat shoot out, mystery continues to shroud the incident. The police have failed to effect the arrest of Haseeb Tramboo and his father's Personal Security Officer Riyaz Ahmed. The inaction of the police has raised many a question. Has police succumbed to political pressure as Kashmir based business tycoon has good connections with those who run the show in the State. It is further alleged that police gave room to the accused Haseeb Tramboo to flee to America. A police officer on anonymity said that, police have registered a case but due to delay in getting the ballistic report, police have been unable to solve the mystery. Sources said that police have suspicion that shoot out at Tramboo's residence was a well planned drama to frame some of the rivals of Tramboo. The AK 47 rounds police recovered from the spot were shot from the service gun of his PSOs, besides no bullet of other weapon was found at his residence , but despite of knowing the fact, police fail to handcuffed the accused behind due to Tramboo's strong connection with the police circle. However, the police failed to arrest the accused against Haseeb Tramboo and PSO Riyaz Ahmed for creating panic in the premises of Food Corporation of India (FCI). They were booked under 3/25 Arms Act by Trikuta Nagar police. Both were booked after two days of the incident. Pertinently, on December 1, Haseeb Tramboo accompanied by his father's PSO entered into the FCI premises in Bahu Plaza and pulled out latter's weapon threatening the other claimants to desist from participating in the tendering. Before the police present on the occasion could take action, Tramboo waived the gun in the open and charged other members present on the spot. Police overpowered the culprit, Haseeb Tramboo and his father's PSO. But the two could not be arrested due to confusion in the FCI hall. They could recover the weapon only. On the same night, some unidentified gunmen fired upon the house of a Valley based businessman Zafar Ahmad Tramboo at Sector 7 Channi Himmat Jammu. Tramboo in his police statement said that his house was attacked by some unidentified persons. "It was around 12.30 mid night. I heard some gunshots and called my PSO's who were on the 2nd floor. One of the PSO retaliated firing from 2nd floor of house while another took position in the ground floor, both (PSO's) shot several rounds", said Tramboo. He said that PSO's had witnessed the movement of two gunmen who were running away after retaliation from them (PSO's). "The gunmen couldn't be identified in the darkness", added Tramboo. On his statement police lodged open FIR in this connection under section 307 RPC. Police also detained the weapons of PSOs and sent the same to the FSL as a part of investigation. |
