| Massive irregularities alleged | | Allotment of flats to migrant employees | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 28: Many a brow has been raised over allotment of flats to migrant employees in police colony at Channi. It is being alleged that some close associates of Relief Commissioner have maintained all the affairs of distributing flats. Few months back 110 flats were allotted to migrant families in Channi police colony. However, it is being alleged that more than 50 flats have been allotted without following the proper procedure. The close associate of Relief Commissioner, who is the hand behind this allotment, projected himself as the son-in-law of a Rajya Sabha member. Highly placed sources told Early Times that estate officer of the Police Department had recommended only 58 flats for allotment of migrant employees at police colony Channi in winter capital Jammu but the Relief Commissioner office allotted 110 flats to migrant families and nobody knows from where the other 52 families came. It has been alleged that in police colony the verification was done by an officer who has remained attached for more than six years due to an investigation with Crime Branch of Police Department and has been adjusted back in the service recently. He was also introduced to migrants as son-in-law of a Rajya Sabha member, sources said. "The officer did the verification of families without any formal order and serious allegations of favoritism and bungling are being leveled against him," sources added. The Relief Commissioner took a blind eye towards the person and allowed him to do whatever he wished and did favoritism while allotting the flats. Many aspirants who were waiting long for getting the allotment were left high and dry when the news came out that flat have been allotted to families without following normal procedure. These people even protested in Relief Commissioner office but only got assurances and no action has been taken against the official. After many efforts, Relief Minister was not available for comment. |
