| Tax Bar Asso flays exclusion from grievance redressal committee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 28: Tax Bar Association (TBA) Jammu in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president Advocate V K Grover expressed its anguish over its (TBA) exclusion from the recently Grievance Redressal Committee formed by the government . The members said, "Representation of this legal body becomes more relevant and indispensable due to the nature of terms of reference for which said committee has been constituted. Referring to Government order No.121-F of 2012 dated 31st March 2012, the members said, 'If the government is sincere in resolving such issues which often crop up in the Tax Administration between the dealers and the tax authorities most of which result in superfluous litigation then the presence, representation and opinion of this legal forum which acts as conduit between them cannot be dispensed with. Tax lawyers always endeavor to minimize litigation by properly interpreting laws at the assessing authority level. They appealed to the Minister for Finance to ensure consultation and representation of Tax Bar Association in the exercise conducted prior to finalization of budget vis-a-vis Laws and Rules which shall facilitate removal of ambiguities and anomalies in them. |
