| Govt ration seized, 3 held | | | Rajouri, Dec 28: Rajouri police has arrested a dealer including two other people and seized about 28 quintals wheat of Government departmental ration belonging to Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) from his procession which was selling it in the black market. Reports said that on Thursday Rafiq Khan, SHO, Kotranka intercepted the truck near police station which was on way to Jammu from Datote in Budhal. Station House Officer, Kotranka 43 wheat bags were hidden below the maize crop in truck bearing registration number JK02AP-6145 which was on way to Jammu. During search police recovered the wheat bags. On being interrogated the driver identified as Khalid Ahmad disclosed to police that the wheat bags belongs to Mohd Tariq who is running government ration depot at Datote in Budhal, sources said. Mohd Tariq was also arrested by the police today and was booked under section 3/7 Essential Commodity Act (ECA). Meanwhile, official of CA&PD Rajouri said that Tariq is not their dealer but he is a shopkeeper at Danfote in Budhal. He might be in touch with some government ration dealers in the area to get the BPL wheat to sell in the black market. He also assured that "We have initiated a departmental inquiry and if any dealer found involved in this network his licence will be cancelled immediately" said an official. |
