| Union Health Minister Azad meets militancy affected boy at Pune | | |

Pune, Dec 28: Minister for Health and Family welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today met 17-year old J&K boy Joginder Singh who is residing at Sarhad (a voluntary organisation which works for the upliftment of children from strife-torn regions such as J&K) in Pune. It was after an intervention of the Union health minister that the boy whose 15 members of family were killed in a brutal militant attack in Tehsil Thatri at the Village Lehuta of Doda district of J&K state was rehabilitated at Sarhad Pune. Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad while meeting the 17-year old boy said that various educational institutions based in Pune need to come to the forefront to ensure underprivileged children such as Joginder Singh has a bright future. The minister however regretted that most of the students after finishing their professional degrees do not render their services to rural areas. The minister said students should be ready to offer their services in rural areas once they finish their professional courses.
Sanjay Nahar, President Sarhad the NGO, has facilitated 17-year old Joginder Singh's move from his hometown in Doda district in Jammu province to Pune. Joginder at his new home Sarhad in Pune is now looking ahead to make a career in hotel management."I want to join the hospitality sector and I want to work for the upliftment of village tourism and hospitality sector back home in J&K once I finish my studies," says Joginder Sing after meeting the Health Minister. Meanwhile Sanjay Nahar, President Sarhad says " During his stay at Pune, Joginder has proved to be quite promising and we hope he can shape up into a fine professional while studying at Sarhad. |
