EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 12: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Saturday, DBN Jammu organized rally which began from Parade and culminated at Vivekananda Chowk. Students from all the branches of DBN participated in the rally besides, Principals and staff members. Students also took pledge to follow teachings of Vivekananda and also to motivate others to follow his teachings for a developed and prosperous society. Students were carrying play cards depicting quotes of Vivekananda as We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think, All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything, The moment I have realized God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds vanishes, and I am free, The world is the great gymnasium where we come to make ourselves strong, Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way etc Swami Vivekananda born as Narendra Nath Datta was a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the western world. He was also credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion in the late 19th century. |
