| PDP castigates Govt for growing unemployment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Jan 12: Senior Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) leader Shahzad Khan today came hard on the government's apathetic attitude towards the growing unemployment in the state. Addressing a group of workers at Kotli Kalaban, Shahzad strongly criticized the failure of the present NC led coalition government to tackle the growing unemployment in the state. He said that the youth are tomorrow's future but unfortunately instead of them nourishing them, the government is literally ignoring them. He said that more than three years have passed since the much hyped SKEWPY was launched but the result unfortunately has been poor as a very low level of employment has been generated since then. The VSA is also a short term temporary relief and in fact it is more of an inducement to the unemployed to keep their mouths shut, he said. Shahzad said that the number of unemployed youth is more than 6 lakhs in the state, far more than the national statistics and yet the number is mushrooming. The number of vocationally trained unemployed youth is also very high and many of them have already crossed the eligibility age criteria, he said. Shahzad said that the present coalition government is busy minting money and addressing to its own vested interests thereby neglecting the plight of the youth. He said the centrally sponsored schemes like Hunar and Udaan have not been advertised by the government thus resulting in few reaping the benefits |
