| Disengaged BDA casual labourers demand reinstatement | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT BHADERWAH, Jan 14 : Despite working in Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) for the last seven years as casual labourers, the BDA without any reason disengaged sixteen workers who were working in various ongoing developmental work sites of the authority including Nalthi, Teli Garh, TRC, Khelani, Kapra and other places. Expressing serious concern over the "lackadaisical attitude" of the government to fulfill its commitments vis-à-vis regularization of daily wagers and release of dues to casual labourers in the BDA, the disengaged casual labourers said "the callous administration has put this hapless lot to tremendous hardships, forcing them to take to streets."Some disengaged casual labourers of BDA namely Ajay Kumar, Mohd Salim, Nazir Ahmed, Bipan Kumar, Javed Iqbal, Mohd Rafiq and others remarked that over a year has passed when the state cabinet gave nod to the regularization of daily wagers working in all departments. "But a formal order to this effect is yet to be issued and Bhaderwah Development Authority today disengaged us as some of our workers are now overage due to which frustration has increased in us," they said. They condemned the BDA action of disengaging them and demanded immediate re-engagement if not then they will launch an agitation, they informed. Reminding the government of its commitment made with all workers of the state they called for immediate re-engagement and regularization of all casual laborers who have completed seven years of service in BDA as per the norms. Meanwhile, PDP Zoanl President Bhaderwah Thakur Yudvir Singh said, "The disengagement of casual workers is completely unwarranted and uncalled for. The workers who have been disengaged without any valid reason must be reinstated as early as possible." |
