| Impersonation case keeps Saroori out of Cabinet | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: The impersonation case of daughter in the entrance test for the MBBS seat is still haunting the Congress MLA Ghulam Muhammad Saroori, who has not been considered for a berth in the cabinet which is to be expanded/reshuffled on Tuesday. Saroori has not been accommodated in the list by the Congress party for the cabinet expansion and have preferred MLA Doda Abdul Majeed Wani over him. Beside Wani, MLA Dooru Ghulam Ahmed Mir and MLA Banihal Viqaar Rasool are expected to make it to the cabinet. Sources told Early Times that Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Saifuddin Soz has handed over the list of three people from Congress to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who will be included in the ministry. The list doesn't include Saroori, who was expecting a ministerial berth. Sources said that it was due to this case of impersonation which is still pending with the court, in which his daughter and son have been made accused, has become the reason for not including him in the ministry. Wani has been preferred over Saroori and will be included as cabinet minister in Tuesday's reshuffle. Wani, a Congress MLA from Doda, is a two-time MLA, who has also worked as MoS urban development in Mufti's government when had won the 2002 Assembly election from Doda as an independent candidate. But he was dropped from ministry when Ghulam Nabi Azad took over as the Chief Minister of J&K in 2005. Now, he had been waiting for past more than seven yars to get the cabinet berth and he has been given a chance to show his strength as a minister. On the other hand, former minister and MLA Dooru, Ghulam Ahmed Mir has also been included the Congress list of ministers. He lost his ministry after his name surfaced in the infamous sex scandal involving big guns. His name was cleared by a court and now has been included in the Ministry. The first time MLA from Banihal and one of the youngest MLAs of Congress, Viqar Rasool also has been included in the ministry and will be given MoS charge. The only Congress man who will lose his place is the medical education, technical education and youth services & sports minister R S Chib, whose tenure as MLC will end in March this year. Rest of the Congress ministers are expected to stay. |
